New Abalone and lobster Update for 2008!!

As expected there are significant changes to the the regulations for these species.

I'll only summarize the new hoops that we need to jump through so go the the real stuff to read the details.

Abalone:
In addition to the existing punch card, there will be tear-off tags that will be needed to be filled out with same info and attached to YOUR abalone through its vent hole.  The tag must remain attached until the Ab is consumed.

The "Free Fishing Day" loophole is closed.  Now a punch-card will be required even on these days to prevent more than 24 abs taken per year.  Now non-licensed holders and even kids under 16 y.o. taking abs must have a report card.

One good thing not mentioned but I heard through the grapevine:  Kayak ab divers can land to fill out the report card.  I think this applies to tagging as well.

Also heard that the courts (read DAs) will be EXTREMELY hard lined on prosecuting any violations technical or otherwise.

Lobster:
A new reportcard is required.  It needs to be filled out prior to catching bugs.
